Heel Lifts - Avoid

Cranial Torsions frequently results in a Short Leg Syndrome (Functional Leg Length Discrepancy)

  • If the sphenoid bone is in a LEFT torsion, the left leg will be functionally shortened
  • Placing a heel lift underneath the left shoe, patient may feel better balanced.
  • However, the heel lift will lock the sphenoid into LEFT torsion, making it recalcitrant to Sacral Occipital Therapy

Note:  Left  Sphenoid torsion is frequently seen in a Category II, Pattern II subluxation in which the occipital bone is in Right torsion.
